Poem 1
None of us would be here
if it weren’t for all the layers of our story
Many of us are beginning a new kind journey
wondering
What’s next for me?
This time I want to do something I’m proud of
and unravel the conditioning
of a world not built by me.
Turns out,
something like this actually does exist for me,
where I can release my armor and finally be free.
And I don’t want to waste that.
That juice
of this life.
Even when I don’t know what to do with this life,
I’m simply so excited to be here.
To receive,
to accept,
to stay really curious
about what’s here.
Like all the angels who brought me here,
Weaving the miracle that is this
brilliance it is to be human.
There really is enough room here for everyone.
Literally anything can happen tomorrow.
Even multiple things at once
Like staying and going all at once.
Don’t worry,
You are being held by a beautiful, evolving vision.
While, yes, I have been many things in my life
Who am I now?
Who do I want to be?
I’m pretty damn good at the doing.
Now it’s time to build a life made from me.
Who am I beyond that which I’ve identified with for so long?
I feel so grateful and honored to be here.
All by myself.
Answering the knock,
After a lifetime of chapters
That kept me locked
where I never dreamed
That life could be this beautiful.
This magical.
It is here that you’re invited you to consider as home
Where you can let your giggles out.
Where we can each put our own ingredients into our gracious group soup.
And perhaps while we’re here
our love can broaden
so those most important to us
can soften
and find a safe place within us
to land.
I can already tell that I am changing
Questioning my own approach
to living,
to receiving,
the urgent care I’ve needed
from all the protecting.
Protecting.
Protecting.
Protecting myself from me,
from not feeling a sense of belonging.
Here, dear.
You are cared for.
You are cared for.
Thank you
For your generosity.

Poem 2
Perhaps we’ve been impregnated
with the next version of ourselves,
and given the opportunity
and the responsibility
to be the stewards this new self
about to be born.
After all of that, I wonder
why I still feel the urge to keep to myself,
struggling internally,
putting my own shackles and armor back on?
Back to the question
Am I safe?
Can I assess whether I am safe?
Did I do this all wrong?
It’s a thought pattern as old as me.
Is it true?
Maybe there is no right way to be you.
Infinite pathways exist.
Especially when you’re navigating from the heart.
And safety truly does exist
In the never ending cycle of creation and destruction
Maybe
We are all souls of source
Being called back to service
Maybe
I am ready to sign back up
to participate in creation
creating itself.
And I struggle to choose
because I wanna be the good guy,
the hero.
My compulsion to never want to hurt anyone
has me holding
and loving
to the point of addiction
fueled by a diamond of pain
hiding inside
The result? My expansion remains
contained.
This reflex to take care of everyone
At the expense of myself
Is an instinct
I wouldn’t wish upon anyone else.
That instinct,
That savior instinct
Where I take on too much
And others threaten to dive off a roof if I don’t.
And I don’t,
No, I don’t
Know how to ask for help.
Especially when I get angry
At my own futility
performing as a person
without the emotional ability
To live up to the expectations of others
The futile insanity of it all begs for wrath.
So I choose, to hang out 12 universes away
Because I do not feel safe
At all
I never have
Is that true?
I’ve never tried to find out.
Does the answer to that question even matter?
What if I don’t need to understand exactly how it all works?
What if
I don’t analyze it?
What if
That’s how I can weave realities together?
To influence and create what’s actually real, together.
Like missing my loved ones who are right in front of me.
Please
Don’t misunderstand.
It’s not that life should end
It’s that life will end
And I would like to take great advantage of each of its stages
Because anything I am feeling, I am generating
And I’m really curious, what am I missing?
I get to play with all of this?!
This co-creation with divine
Amorphous blob of souls
Each with their own melody
To add to our symphony
To our family
Here, where I am now, is where I want to stay
Because where I was
Is disappointing
Back when I wasn’t appreciating all I’ve been given
Back where I didn’t see,
all the love that people - no, angels -
Have had for me.
Back where I was holding on too tight to the damn business fight.
It’s time for me to let go
and trust
this space, this community, and the dance that we’re all in.
What if the war inside of me
could finally
be over?
And if it’s over, what’s next?
What if you get this?
This thing called love?
Fine, but what is my role?
Err, wrong question.
Look, while it might be the same scene
Over there is an aly you haven’t yet seen
Where you meet this person
CUT
A booster came to my rescue
and I saw my daughter
as the main character.
And I saw all I’ve taken for granted,
and all the gratitude I get to give now
and say I love you to unexpected people,
and enjoy the surprise of those who stay
in the center of this constructed universe with me.
I’ve recognized a great power within me.
That I’m very excited to share
With those I get to through life with
Wow, I’m so lucky
To get to squeeze this juice
To choose
this juice.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
If this is what death is like,
I’m okay with it.
Even with all the grief and disbelief
I carry inside
For those I wasn’t able to save
Thank you for all you were so generous to say.

Poem 3
If we don’t actively stand against the status quo
We will be pulled into it by its own gravity and magnetism.
Integration requires that we allow ourselves
to be changeable
Top down, bottom up, and from the sides
We must believe
that the mission of this work is accomplishable.
So, I want to go out into the world
And be love first.
Quenching the thirst
That protecting myself with silence has caused me.
I am the author of my story.
I am the author of my life.
The story of my past
May actually be malleable
A butterfly’s certainly is
So may this
be a great start
to a great year.
I’m ready,
for what’s about to happen next.
I truly feel seen,
heard,
loved,
with the support and permission to feel,
to respect my soul,
to start writing my next chapter
and let it be real.
I’m starting to make progress.
It’s so easy to forget
How much I need
People to hug me
And tell me they love me.
To renew my understanding
that I am safe.
I am whole.
I am free to just be me.
I no longer want to escape myself
to tend towards others when they sneeze.
May all our movies be beautiful, unique tales
Of being cleansed down
Till the light behind our eyes is revealed.
So close your eyes,
Fall in love,
Stay there.
The intimacy of this human experience strikes me
To remember the power inside me
To navigate the juxtaposition
Of expansion and contraction
On this choose-your-own-adveture ride from source.
Perhaps the seeds of peace
Sown long ago
are finally ready to rise
through a legacy of so much force.
Rising through so many layers of armor
to blissfully return
back to the axe and the bucket.
I really don’t want to let go of you all.
I want to keep wrapping my arms around you all.
What if this kind of embrace could be available for everybody?
Where we can loosen our grip on our usual roles
Especially the not-true roles we rehearse in our head
like “I’m a horrible person”
in service of arriving instead,
as my full unbridled self
sharing the truth of my story
and letting my anxieties hang out on their shelf.
I’m really excited to see what emerges from this
because where I thought I was gonna go
I didn’t actually go
So,
I’ll slow down my pace
and hold myself
In this very special space.
And step outside to talk to the horses, staring at the moon.
Achoo.
